Enacting change through entertainment: Student wellbeing programs with ongoing impact

Student wellbeing concerns and bullying in schools in Australia are the ever-present elephant in every classroom, playground, principals office and conversation. Here at Action Education, we’ve self-appointed responsibility to shake up the way wellbeing programs connect with kids (and schools), to collectively see better outcomes.

And by better outcomes, we mean happier, more resilient students, satisfied parents and carers and teaching staff with more time to focus on, well, teaching.

Our clever, high-energy parkour and acrobatics performances hold student attention spans – giving us the eyes and listening ears we need to educate on difficult topics. In Backflips Against Bullying, this looks like age appropriate conversations, role plays and resources around bullying, cyberbullying, resilience, empathy, positive relationships and bystander behaviour.

from the rest

We build relationships that last long after the curtain call – returning to your school year on year with fresh, relevant and curriculum-standard performances. This recurring model substantially alleviates the administrative load for school staff.

Systems are great, but seeing grassroots change is even better. Our wellbeing programs are created for real school environments, with age-appropriate content. We focus on practical ways to respond to difficult situations, so students can confidently put these skills into play and schools can see actual wellbeing improvement.

Alongside the practical tools and post-performance resources provided, we’re constantly adding to a growing bank of resources to support student wellbeing. Plus, we’re working on expanding our programs and workshops in line with what schools and students really need help with.
